Please enjoy seeing the transformations we’ve done for some examples of the services we offer. Like the Stevens 87a .22 caliber semi-automatic rifle. Nicknamed “Gilly.” A tube-fed, low-recoil, and accurate .22 that needed saving.
Or the Mossberg 185D-A 20 Gauge. A bolt action, and now very clean firearm. I cannot tell a lie. I love this gun! And don’t forget Dad’s Guns.
Baikal MP-18MH .243 Win
This is one of our latest cleanups. It is amazing how a simple rifle cleaning with the right products can bring life back to an older gun. This one needed a bit of spot bluing and was heavily gummed up with carbon.

Stevens 87a “Gill Gun” Full Restoration
When people get bored, or they just don’t know any better, they do questionable things to their firearms. Sometimes it’s to repair unsightly damage, sometimes it’s just to add a personal touch.
In this case, another “gunsmith” took his hand at refinishing a really neat gun. It’s called a “Gill Gun” because of the gills you see on the side of the receiver. It is a very fun gun to shoot because there is no recoil. And since it is long, the user doesn’t need ear protection. (Although we suggest you always where ear and eye protection regardless of perceived decibel levels.)
This firearm had to have the Sherwin Williams textured interior stripped. The previously fire-damaged stock had to be sanded past a comfortable point thanks to a giant W carved into it. Birchwood Casey True Gun Oil finished things off.
Note that this particular stock didn’t get “wet sanded.” A process that gives it an even more shiny finish thanks to filling in the small pores you see. Check out all our services if you have something that needs some love.
Mossberg 185D A 20 Gauge Bolt-action Shotgun Re-blue
We sourced this firearm specifically to do a restore job. Although the stock does have damage, we haven’t decided to complete that repair at this time. The main issue was the quality of the exposed portions of metal.
The barrel itself was well-maintained on the inside. As is often the case with old and new firearms improperly stored. Watch the progression as we go from the before to the after. From stripping to prep and finally to bluing. Enjoy!

Dad’s Guns
Who doesn’t have a story or heard a story about guns that have been passed down for generations? Well here are two such guns that were handed down to me from my late father. I hope he is smiling down from heaven knowing these guns will now last another 50+ years.
