Why rushing to buy your next firearm might be a bad idea.

Our society is programmed to accept very little else other than instant gratification. We can order most everything online and have it delivered to our door. There is virtually nothing we can’t get from the comfort of our pajamas.

There are some things that, like it or not, are highly regulated and controlled. Firearms are one of those things. Honestly, we don’t want just anyone to be able to order up a 9mm from a dasher-type service now do we?

Because of this, your neighborhood gun shops, pawn shops, and 2nd Amendment advocates are out there providing more than just a means to get weapons. They facilitate the appropriate transfer of legal firearms in a way that lessens the chance they’ll be used in a crime.

No rules. Just wrong?

There’s no doubt that some slip through the cracks. But imagine the case if there were no rules, no checks, and no discretion. Unfortunately, that’s what you run the risk of dealing with in private sale situations. A recent experiment showed some scary results.

People involved in private sale and trade are clearly selling to underage customers. The money is easy because they know they (the customer) will pay exorbitant amounts above the value. The same is true for prohibited possessors.

The promise of no NICS background check tends to tempt those that shouldn’t be. Like it or not, the law is the law. And until we support more organizations to fight for laws that protect our 2nd Amendment rights, we need to follow it.

Let the courts battle it out. Play by the rules and everybody gets to have a good time. And if you want to make sure you’re playing by the rules, schedule a free consultation or contact us. We’re happy to facilitate private sales to help with the legal transfer of your firearm to the new owner.

Is it worth it?

Beyond the legal aspect, what about value for your money? If you’re buying a new firearm, it’s easy to get caught up in marketing hype. Especially if you dip your toe into social media, big name stores, and the world of professional shooting and training.

Chances are, you’re going to buy something that wasn’t designed for what you want to use it for. You’re going to overpay, and you may regret the purchase if it doesn’t continue to keep bringing you joy as long as you own it.

Think of it like a new car. Once you drive it off the lot, the value of it goes down. Unless it is some kind of collector or rare piece. And it’s fine to buy that new gun, but don’t forget about used ones. Or maybe a new one with a lesser known name.

We carry a vast amount of brands. Some you’ve heard of, and some you haven’t. The “Kiger” is made by Anderson Manufacturing, and is comparable to a GLOCK. And we didn’t leave out affordable AR-15 platform rifles.

But if brand name is for you, remember we can special order virtually anything from our distributor. And we are one of the only gun stores where you can make an offer on new inventory as well as old.
